How to Get The Most Out of Moondust Conditioner

4 MIN READ

After lathering up in the shower, we tend to use more conditioner than shampoo because of the immediate results we experience when using conditioner. Conditioner detangles, softens and moisturizes hair. In a concentrated formula like Moondust Hair Conditoner, there is a learning curve to know how much conditioner is enough and how to exactly use a waterless powder as a conditioner (since this is the first time it’s ever been done). Below, we have put together a guide on how to use our award-winning Moondust Conditioner, sharing our best tips and tricks to get the most out of Moondust!

Sprinkle

If you’re a Moondust Hair Wash advocate already, then you know the way to sprinkle your way to a velvety lather. You’ll notice with the Moondust Conditioner that the powder is more fine and more fluffy than Moondust Hair Wash.

The key to dispensing the conditioner powder is to gently squeeze the bottle, which will release a bit of conditioning powder. Haircare is personal, so it may take a couple uses before understanding the perfect amount for you. Since Moondust is concentrated, it’s best to start with a small amount before going in and adding more.

Activate

Now it’s time for the science! Transform the powder into a liquid by rubbing your hands together. Emulsify the product between your wet hands and watch it turn into a smooth, creamy consistency.

Unlike Moondust Hair Wash, the conditioner powder does not lather because there are no surfactants present. Surfactants are responsible for cleaning the hair and that’s not necessary in a conditioner formula. This means, adding more water will actually appear to make the conditioner disappear as it disperses! Once the conditioner is visible in the hands, it’s ready to go in the hair.

Pro Tip: If you can’t see the conditioner, you don’t have enough. You should see and feel the creaminess of the conditioner before you slide it through your hair. Moondust Conditioner is designed for all hair types and will not weigh hair down, so don’t worry if more is needed.

Slide

Once the powder has transformed into a creamy texture, slide the product from the midlengths of your hair to the ends. To maximize your moisture, let it sit for about 3 minutes or so to let the concentrated ingredients absorb into your wet hair.

Pro Tip: Have a lot of hair? Use the Crystal Blue Comb to distribute the conditioner through your hair and detangle your strands. Add water to the hair while coming through the conditioner.

Rinse

Rinse the conditioner out of the hair. This is an easy-to-rinse conditioner formula, so it shouldn’t take more than a couple of seconds to fully rinse the product out of hair, leaving hair feeling detangled and silky.
